Drive Test
Drive testing serves as a crucial method for evaluating the coverage, capacity, and quality of services (QOS) provided by a mobile network. It offers a live RF environment reflective of specific network and environmental conditions, providing invaluable insights into actual network performance as experienced by users on the designated drive route.
Prior to initiating drive testing, thorough preparation is essential. This involves ensuring the availability and functionality of necessary equipment such as chargers, SIM cards, data cables, FT strips, batteries, earphones, SD cards, laptops with requisite software, and car inverters. Telcolab ensures the provision of these equipment based on client requirements.
Phone-based drive test systems play a pivotal role in assessing basic network performance and understanding the end-user experience. These systems facilitate the evaluation of network settings like cell selection and re-selection boundaries, as well as the measurement of voice and data application performance within the live network. Leveraging engineering measurement capabilities inherent in modern mobile phone chipsets, drive test software harnesses these parameters to deliver valuable insights to test engineers during network rollout.
Our comprehensive drive-test solution encompasses portable equipment equipped with all necessary functionalities for conducting thorough device testing. Tests are conducted while the mobile device under examination is in motion, allowing for assessments in diverse scenarios including vehicles, trains, or virtually anywhere. Test parameters include Voice Quality, Video Quality, Data Quality, SERVCC, Handover, OOS, network recovery, GPS, Bluetooth, among others, tailored to client specifications.
Through rigorous analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and in-depth field analysis during drive testing, issues such as dropped calls, SRVCC failures, and low data speeds can be identified. Telcolab drive test solution consists of three major components:
- SCFT Drive Test: Static test to gather sector-specific information on cell site coverage and quality parameters.
- Dynamic Drive Test: Involves moving around the site to assess network coverage, quality, and perform short and long calls to evaluate network strength and stability, handover performance, and voice and data quality.
- MSV Drive Test: Focuses on multiple site verification to enhance Quality of Experience (QOE) in cellular networks, measuring parameters such as RSRP, RSRQ, SINR for LTE, and RSCP, RSSI, Ec/Io for WCDMA.
Our drive testing fundamentals revolve around ensuring the deployment of new network sites to meet coverage, capacity, and quality requirements.
